The People In The Picture

 

We are pleased to announce a 17-week extension of the critically acclaimed Broadway production of Oscar Wilde’s comedy The Importance of Being Earnest, directed by and starring Brian Bedford as “Lady Bracknell,” at the American Airlines Theatre.

The limited engagement of The Importance of Being Earnest has been extended through Sunday, July 3rd, 2011.  It was originally scheduled to run through March 6th, 2011.

The new musical The People in the Picture which was scheduled to open at the American Airlines Theatre this spring, will now open at Roundabout’s Studio 54. Mike Stoller, Artie Butler & Iris Rainer Dart’s The People in the Picture, starring Donna Murphy and directed by Leonard Foglia, will begin previews on Friday, April 1st and open Thursday, April 28th, 2011 as previously announced.

Note to Subscribers:
Subscribers with tickets to The People in the Picture will be issued new tickets reflecting the change of venue in the coming weeks. Note that your performance date will not change.

In the spring of 2011, Roundabout will present the new musical The People in the Picture, starring Two time Tony® Award-winner Donna Murphy at the American Airlines Theatre.

Here is a conversation with Roundabout Artistic Director Todd Haimes about this exciting new musical production:

1)  How did The People in the Picture come to Roundabout?

When I first encountered this show last year, it very quickly captured my heart. I saw a great story with wonderful music, and it was exciting to me that it was entirely original. I immediately knew that I wanted to support this show and provide a home for the creative team to workshop it. The developmental process over the course of that workshop was incredibly productive, and the team came out of it with a lot of ideas. They incorporated everything that we learned from the workshop and came up with a new draft, which we had a reading of a few months later. From that reading, I felt that the show was ready to be on stage, and I’m extremely happy that we are able to get it in front of our audience this season.
