Many people don’t realize that the new production of Bye Bye Birdie at the Henry Miller’s Theatre is the first Broadway revival that the musical has ever received. Why does it feel like the residents of Sweet Apple, Ohio have always been nearby? Well, the fact that Bye Bye Birdie has long been one of the most frequently performed musicals by high schools in the United States might have something to do with it! From high school to college, from summer camp to community theater, Bye Bye Birdie is a perennial favorite, and we wondered: Who among us doesn’t have a Bye Bye Birdie story of our own? That query resulted in a flurry of fantastic memories from Roundabout’s own staff members.
